At A Person Who, we believe in storytelling. We think that everyone should be able to speak about their life journey and speak about their triumphs and tribulations. We know that there are multiple chapters in one’s life, and not all of them are beautifully written. We also understand that many people are in a messy chapter right now. We believe that one of the bravest things a person can do is to let the world in, especially when going through those types of chapters, and here’s why:
It’s natural to want to shield our pain or the less glamourous sides to our story; however, we actually become better, stronger versions of ourselves when we stop trying to edit ourselves into who we “think” we should be, or the kind of person we think others will like and accept more. Oftentimes, trying to edit out parts of ourselves keeps others from being able to truly connect and relate to us. We end up trying to impress others who may not even like the version of us that we are putting forth for others to “read”. Let’s face it: perfect, polished edits of people are boring, and not realistic. In real life, people tend to appreciate the real, the raw, and the authentic stories that we have to share.
We hope that by reading and watching the stories of others, people will see that their own messy and unedited chapters are beautiful and meaningful. We want others to see that their story has a purpose, and they should and deserve to tell it.
